The Survival and self-care issue

"Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation,
and that is an act of political warfare" - Audre Lorde

Issue ii of Uju will be the survival and self-care issue. Not so much the consumerism or performance of "care" that has become the basis of praxis. Not the "you need these specific candles/ this lotion/ this incense etc" brand of self-care. The nitty gritty. The staying in bed, the spells, the potions, the prayers, the not-answering-the-phone. The people who are there when you come out from your darkness. The people who say "I'm here" when you cut the phone line and focus on you. Also being the person getting hung up on. The guilt. The feelings of failure because why should you care for yourself when there's surviving to do?

What does it mean to survive? Can we take care of ourselves as we survive?

Send your best spells, potions and coping mechanism because they can save us.
